Geary County African American History Trail

Led by Prairie Heritage board president Jim Sands, Prairie Heritage is collecting information on sites for an African American History Trail in Geary County, Kansas.  The first step is to videorecord citizens' recollections of 9th Street, the one-time center of Black-owned businesses in Junction City.   There will be a screening of  "Ninth Street," a film centered on that district by Junction City native and Academy-Award-winning filmmaker Kevin Willmott.   The screening will be accompanied by a presentation by Kevin Willmott himself, followed by a Q & A.    Stay tuned for date, time, and place!
