The Art of Betsy Roe

Artist Betsy Knabe Roe, currently curator at the Sabbatini Gallery in Topeka, Kansas and a fiber artist in the No-To district, was artist-in-residence at Bird Runner from 2009-2011. During that time, she earned designation as Kansas Emerging Artist of 2009 and won the "working with native plants" award from the Kansas Native Plant Society in 2011. While at Bird Runner, she taught 4-H members and local residents how to make paper from native plants; many of her sculptures are made from such materials. Her most notable accomplishment at Bird Runner, though, was the creation of three outdoor installations on a prairie restoration site, with each new installation spinning out of the last one. The following links take you to more photos and information on the installations.
